I love maternity photoshoots. Pregnant women and little newborns both have amazing energy that you can sense and feel. I also love the excitement of first time parents. This couple was very sweet, and if I’m lucky I’ll get to meet the little guy when he comes! Good luck guys!

I love the pure white and pure black backgrounds for portrait photography because it makes people’s gorgeous faces just POP out of the picture. Check this out though, for the pictures below with the dark background, I actually had a white wall behind my model. No, not magic, I just know my way around manual settings for the camera and flash. Wheeee, I love photography!

Today I got to capture an amazing little girl at a local park in Libertyville IL. She was such a doll. Her mom brought some Mother’s day tulips for the shoot, which are just gorgeous. (Tulips are my favorite flower, btw.) I think the tulip images are my favorite in fact. Anyway, it was beautiful spring day, and we all just played and played, and that’s what a photoshoot should be like with kids - lots of fun!
That’s what a child portrait session is like with me. We lay on the grass, smell flowers, play peak-a-boo, and maybe end up at a playground. It’s so much fun for everyone!

As you probably know, Ella is my little bean pod. She and her Nana went to the train station to pretend to take a trip there. Ella loves trains, and just loved this trip out. We took some luggage, we bought some pretend tickets, and we even jumped on the train for about two seconds….yes, and thoroughly confused the train conductor. I think Ella loved playing in the rain the most with her umbrella.

I’m happy to share with you that I’m volunteering my time and skills to help out local causes with photography. Hey, it’s a WIN-WIN! I have participated in multiple silent auctions for helping children all over Lake, Cook, and McHenry County, and I’d like to do more! (See older blog posts for other volunteering efforts.)

For the Youth Build Lake County I am donating $480 of photography and prints to the silent auction winner, and even more in discounts to the attendees.

You wouldn’t believe how fast this photoshoot went. He only needed one shot for his company profile, and wa-laa, it was so fast and so easy! We chatted more about our kids than it took to get the perfect shot! Normally he is asked to take off his glasses in a traditional studio setting because of the glare, but I say, if you wear glasses normally, then it shouldn’t be any different in a photo that represents yourself.

Wedding season is upon us! I absolutely love weddings. Where else do you see such a large number of happy people? Visually weddings are so gorgeous.
